Love the paint job, Bigdog. Looks like a very hospitible barn for a slew of Cubs.

Not much but keeps it dry. Can use the 1.5 car garage for emergency repairs. Hurricane clips on all rafters for the occassional tornado we get. One hit within 2 blocks of this location last year. Posts are on piers 38" deep and framing is screwed together. Cheap job because I had a gift card from Lowes I hadn't used.

These are the only pictures I can find inside and out side my shop.
Now, if I could get some heat out there, I'd be in high cotton.

Re: Cub House Shop Photos
here is where I used to store and work on my tractors, it was crowded with 2 cubs and an h in there, not to mention drafty in the winter time.
now, however, This is what my tractors call home, and so do i when Joann is mad at me.

Re: Cub House Shop Photos
Well, it has been a while since I started my Cub House project... but after a few interesting years it is almost finally done. For a review the New Home for my Cubs thread has some nice pics.... but this is essentially where my Cubs now live...
Nov 18, 2008
I finally got most of the inside done now, all the wiring/lighting is done, the two beams are painted with the trolley mounted on one, the vast majority of insulation and sheathing is done. Just have to finish off closing in the old roof which will aid in keeping the pole barn warmer this year.
October 2011
Jim I didn't know Texas got that much snow ... looked familiar somehow ..
Dec 04, 2007
Last year was a normal year and we got a fair amount of snow.
Feb 27, 2011
This year so far has been the warmest on record since 1961 .. we will be lucky to have a white Christmas

John,
That is the style of shop I want---enclosed in the center and a lean-to on each side.
How big is it, and is it stick built from scratch or is it a manufactured building like a Morton, etc?

The enclosed part is 32x40, with a 10 ft lean to on the upper side and a 12 foot on the lower side for truck and trailer. lower one should have been 14 feet. Stick built, there is a place near here that sells metal siding and sells kits, all the lumber, metal, screws, etc for a single price. it has what is called Solar Wrap under roof and on walls. it is a layer of foil, 1/2 inch of fiberglass insulation, and a layer of white plastic inside the building. Really makes a difference in temperature. The main mistake i made was the sliding doors, they are only 10feet wide, ones on the end you can see should have been 12feet. By the time you allow for the door facings, a wide trailer only has about 8 inches of clearance on each side of the wheels. pretty careful backing required.

Thats what i had orginally. 20x24. with 9 foot overhangs. I quickly enclosed the northside into the shop. And then enclosed the southside and added another 12 ft. Making mine a total of 50x24. With 29x24 concrete and heated.
more pictures here

now my other past time is the wood shop.
see how i put it together here
http://s16.photobucket.com/albums/b46/v ... od%20shop/
see how the entire building was built in 8 hours, with hourly pictures taken, from a cement pad, to fully shingled and sided, in 8 hours.
