Hood Holder / Stand

Postby Winfield Dave » Sun Nov 27, 2011 7:26 pm

[ Mods. I didn't know if this should be posted here or in the Projects forum, but since it is Cub-specific I put it here. ]

Had been thinking about building one of these for a while and finally did so over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Found a piece of pipe that slide into and rotated easily in my engine stand...
Welded on some "ears" and "antlers"...and it was done.
Took me longer to layout the lengths of the supports than to assemble it.

It rotates 360 degrees, so if used for painting you can paint top and bottom at the same time.
Another nice thing is that it doesn't require much storage space...pull it out of the stand and hang it up.

Thanks Guys...I will not take credit for the original idea/design...
I failed to include that in my original post.

This was a compilation from pics and descriptions here on the forum,
and additional info from Gary Dotson.

I just took all that and used what was here laying around the house to fab it up.

Some dimensions to help with your layout.
Keep in mind, the slope of your engine stand pipe will affect how level your hood will be.
May need to play with your measurements.

Last pic shows an easy way to hold the hood / stand while you fit up your arms.
