Postby deputy jailer » Mon Oct 31, 2011 1:26 am

Poked this bad boy last year with a stick and string. Official score was 171 3/8 in. Finally got it back after almost a year, Our taxidermist is the only one around and stays covered up but the mount was worth waiting for :D

Ok ricky :D I seen this bad boy 3 yrs in a row but only on my trail cam at night feeding. I tried everyway in the world to drag him in season after season with no success. Year before last he showed up none, earlier in the season there was word going around that someone had spot lighted a big buck down below my place  ( I hate poachers) I thought he was gone for sure and moved on to another couple of shooters I had. Went day in and day out and never seen any of those either. Rabbit season came in and as most of you know I put the world on hold for that, even deer season. Last week of season started to roll around and I came down with the flu and thought I was going to have to eat a tag sandwich and was hateing it because they taste awful :D There were two days left and my curiousity got the best of me, I managed to make it to the woods and poured out a grass sack full of acorns me and the kids had picked up ( i make my own acorn rage, its cheaper 8) ) I went to the stand and sat and saw nothing so I climbed down and headed home for some rest before evening hunt. I laid around and wanted to stay in bed but yet again my curiousity got the best of me. I drug myself to the stand and hooked up to my harness and sat down. Dark was setting in fast and I wanted to climb down so bad but toughed it out. I stood up to stretch my aching bones and something caught my eye moving in the blackberry thicket about 60 yards from my stand. I took out my binos and could see what appeared to be antlers inside the thicket but still couldnt make it out. all of a sudden Mr Freak Nasty Stands up and my heart is going a million miles an hour, its him its really him but with daylight fading he will never make it inside of 40 yards. But he did, and headed straight to me on a line to the acorns and I thought no way. He got to the acorns but never ate and at this time Im at full draw. His 6th sense starting kicking in and he knew I was there but couldnt see me ( thanks realtree ap). 32 yrds, 1 Bowtech, 1 Beaman ICS and a set of weakend knees later its all history.

Nice buck! A friend of mine had the rear of a deer mounted and hung it on the opposite wall from his buck. Had a toy "teddy bear" eye on the deer's "hole".

Well worth the wait, a SUPER Buck........Congratulations :D
I bought an old tractor all dusty and worn,
knew nothing about her just the year she was born
I washed her and greased her and painted her red
Now she lives happily right here in my shed.
