Hard Boiled EggsI was wondering if anyone has a solution to a slight problem, farm fresh eggs seem to always want to hold on to the shell. Store bought eggs peel easy but the ones from out under the hens always seem to want to stick, any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Re: Hard Boiled EggsI believe that if you keep them a couple of weeks before boiling they will peel without sticking.

Re: Hard Boiled EggsHow do YOU boil them?
I put cold water in the pan to cover the eggs. Turn heat on high till it starts to boil, turn off heat and cover. When they have cooled enough to touch without pain Peel them under running water, so the water can get between the egg and the membrain. Dale Shaw

Experience Hog? I like that idea the best, my breakfast every morning at work is two boiled eggs, yogurt, and coffee. It's quick, Dale's idea is ok but i'm skinning them at work. I guess the wife might be interested in that but then again she might already be doing it. I just want no hassle eggs in the morning One Life , One Love , A Love Supreme

Re: Hard Boiled EggsMichael,
We have layer hens and if we want hard boiled eggs for something we go out and buy them from a grocery store. We've found that after about 3 weeks in the fridge our "fresh" eggs will boil up nicely and peel clean. Peter
Re: Hard Boiled EggsSo... the question that I have often wondered was how long a fresh egg will keep in the fridge before needing to be tossed out?

Re: Hard Boiled EggsMike they keep a long time. I have left store bought eggs in the fridge for a month and then gone back to the country and they were fine.
Edit to add, On my recent trip to the country my neighbor gave me a dozen Duck eggs. They were Great and make the finest Corn Bread. Bill

Re: Hard Boiled EggsDid you know that if you don't wash a fresh egg that you can store it without refrigeration?

Re: Hard Boiled Eggs
Well I asked the mechanic at work today why the dozen eggs I brought him were still sitting on his desk, the reply, " I worked at the egg house when I was younger and people have no idea how old eggs they buy in the store maybe. He went on to explain that when the eggs came in they washed them, then candled them, then dipped them in a silicone solution and from there they went into the huge coolers where they may not have seen the light of day for up to a year." Imagine that. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? One Life , One Love , A Love Supreme

Re: Hard Boiled EggsMichael, check out this sight and see if it answers any of your questions. http://www.aeb.org/ The way I gather it (pun intended), Eggs don't last very long once they are processed.
I wouldn't try to have it for breakfast by then. It's liable to hop out of the frying pan. I don't believe in taking the bull by the horns. I took a goat by the horns once and that was enough excitement for me.
