Artie...color question
I was working on Artie today and put the dash on the dash tower so I could line up the hood to mark the hole to be cut in it for the exhaust/muffler to run through the hood. I was looking at it and I think I might go with the IH-white on the hood and dash. I think it looks kinda nice like this. Keep in mind the hood and dash have not been painted yet, so I am still considering this color combination. What do ya'll think about this color combo? Here are a couple of photos to show how it might look.

I like it Jim! I think it makes it stand out. Of course colors and I don't always get along. The whole project is looking good.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: Artie...color question
I think I would stay with red and do some white pin stripes.

The white looks good. If you want it, go for it! If you don't like it after you try it, paint it red. It's small and won't take much paint.

Re: Artie...color question
I like the white hood, however, if you went with all red, the tractor would look an awful lot like the IH Farm tractors of the period. The IH 1086 has always been one of my favorite tractors (along with others in that period):
The 966 looks good too, with the white upright and hood paint:
Although, this is really what you're going after, the IH 4568:
There is a guy here on Grand Island with one of these, that I've been wanting to go talk to him about for years. Just an amazing machine! I'm sure yours will be too!

Jim,
I like BD's suggestion of a red hood with white pinstripes.

Re: Artie...color question
REAL Cub Cadets are yellow and white I like the white hoods/grill with yellow , but not with red. I like Bigdog's suggestion of red w/white pin stripes or maybe white accents, but it's all in what YOU like. You built the tractor for yourself, and you built it the way you wanted it, so paint it the way YOU want it, not the way "we" want it.

Re: Artie...color question
The scheme on that 4568 above is pretty cool looking...to match you could then wear a red hat with a white bill.

Re: Artie...color question
I am going to throw a whole new wrench in the works. I think you should paint it gold like the Demonstraters where during that time. After all this is just for Demonstration purposes

Re: Artie...color question
I thught about the demonstrator colors too:
Could look pretty nice!
Also, I've thought about this same project many times for years now. I don't know what you are planning for fenders, but I always thought about taking a set of factory fenders and turning them around backwards, cutting out the seat pan portion, so they go forward from the foot rests, up over the front wheels with the reflectors facing forward. Then have a second set in the back over the rear wheels. That would give you a place to mount a set of front headlights in the fenders, just like the big tractors (with a little fabrication anyway). I'm sure you've thought of this stuff, but I'm just so excited to see someone actually doing it.

Re: Artie...color question
Thanks for the input on the paint scheme. I'm thinking the 4568 may be a good way to go.
Gitractorman I have a scale 966 but I put the black strip on it, well it's looks a little like one. I did take a seat pan and cut the fenders out of the it and used them for the front. Not exactly how you were talking about though.
Mr. E a friend of mine sent me a photo of that red cub a little while back. I like it but I think the front end is out a little too far.
Dave...not to sure about the hat idea.

Re: Artie...color question
Jim:
I actually like the paint/decal scheme of the scaled 966 with the black stripe. The black stripe would look very good on Artie especially as it is kinda a scale representation of the 2x2's (well at least from my limited viewpoint ) The red with a white stripe sounds interesting as well. I assume you are going after some custom decals?
As Paul said, it is your design, your tractor, so it has to be your choice. I am just looking forward to what you come up with. It is going to be pretty for sure

Jim,
Yes, I thought I had seen yours with the fenders on it. That's exactly what I was talking about. I can't wait to see your finished project. As with the rest of yours, they are all amazing! I love that 966. Hmm. I've got a couple of Cadets around here. Maybe I need to work on "modifying" one.....
Awesome work!
