Went to look at farmall A with a woods mower. with trans in neutral and engine running, there was fair amount of gear noise. it's not grinding or sqealling, but easy to hear over engine when standing next to it. everything else seems ok, including when running mower.
is this cause to walk away or normal for these tractors?
thanks

Re: Farmall A noise from trans
The noise is most likely the input shaft bearing rather than a gear since it is noticeable when in neutral.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
