In front of a posters name there are icons that seem to vary, one looks line a empty page, one looks like a red page, one looks like an evil object shooting at me in the old computer game "Doom". What do these icone represent?

Pretty much anything you wish it to represent. They are usually used to indicate things like -- happy -- got a new toy, frustration -- got a problem with something and the solution is not apparent, important info you feel should be shared etc. You get to choose. All they really are is an indication of what type of thread it is. At least that is my take on it. I rarely use them though.

In this post, my reply, before the title: RE OLD Tiller etc..
is a moving icon. I was curious why it is there, does it represent something?

When it is animated then there is a new post. When it is not animated, no new posts. Oh yeah .. relative to what you have read.
