How To Post Photos in The Forum
BigDog did an excellent job showing everyone how to post photos to the forum at DSCF. I had hoped to video the session but with so many people in attendance I had a hard time doing so. Besides Louisiana Mike wanted the front row seat. But, all kidding aside, it would have been confusing for many had I done it with the group.
Sooo... here it is as a video for all to see. I hope this helps some of you who who have asked and some of you who sometimes confuse the img tags with the url tags and such.
It may be a little hard to see as it is, but, if you double click on the video it should open into a bigger screen in YouTube.

I've never been able to use the photo host here on the forum and do all my picture postings through Photobucket.
I'd like to see every Fest this year have a hands on teaching about posting pictures.
This addition is also a really good reminder about picture posting that I hope will be placed in the "How To" section of the once the picture downloading from the camera is added.
Thanks Bill...

I'd like to keep this near the top for a while yet so everyone can look this ( how to ) over several times.
Looking forward to a little more info about downloading from the camera to the photo host used here on the form.

I wanted to do a video on this topic but I see a few bugs I need to work out.
First, the photohost only allows files 512KB or less. Most photos are at least 1MB and some of mine are as high as 5MB. Photos would have to be resized in another program before uploading to the photohost. That tells me you can not download directly to the photohost from your camera.
The next thing is that there are many types of software to resize with. Some use Irfanview while others use what ever came on their computer. I use Microsoft Office Picture Manager, while many use one of the many other programs.
To do this I would, first have to explain resizing in multiple programs, and then uploading. I think a lot of folks might be confused if I only used the program I have and not the one they use.
For those of you who do this a lot, am I looking at this the right way? I don't mind doing the video, but if it is going to leave too many members confused, I might leave well enough alone.

Re: How To Post Photos in The Forum
Is there any way to simply reset the cameras. When I first started posting photos, mine were all too big and needed resized. During a visit to Ralph's, his son Camo simply reset my camera to take lower resolution pictures and now every pic I take is the exceptable size and they still are crystal clear.

Re: How To Post Photos in The Forum
Most digital cameras have the ability to select the size (or resolution) of the picture to begin with. If I am taking pictures that I know are for posting I set the camera to the lower resolution setting to eliminate the need for re-sizing. There are times when I take pictures for extra detail or for printing out and I select a larger size or higher resolution setting.
One needs to become familiar with their camera so they can make these changes. As a rule, most of these cameras come from the factory set on the highest resolution settings as the pictures look best at those settings.
The pictures that are taken at higher resolution can be re-sized with various programs as Barnyard said. Some people use the software that came with their camera so regardless of what one is using they have to become familiar with taking and uploading pictures to their own computer first. Then you would only need a simple tutorial for uploading to the photohost.

Re: How To Post Photos in The Forum
I will work on a "How To" showing how to upload a photo after it has been sized. This may take a while depending how the weather is the next few days.
