Edit: Why are the PTO shaft speeds slower than the engine speeds?

Bob, the PTO on # series is belt driven, I guess there's a slight difference in pulley size.

I noticed that today as I got in there on my new to me- old 154 because the fan belt pto was noisy- very loose! Tightened it up to deflect finger 1/16th deflection - there are some oil leaks down there that I have to chase Also cant seem to access the hydraulic reservoir for the bucket- its a slot head bolt from the look of it?
dont want to screw it up so will get BIG screwdriver on it tomorrow and make sure level is up to 5 1/2 in from top as manual says
