Montgomery Ward Plow-Trac
Montgomery Ward, Model WS6, Plow-Trac Tractor. Wisconsin 3 hp engine at 2600 rpms. Puchased in 08 at auction for $15-. Bought it for the F Cub fitting wheel weights. Got it home. Found the engine had good compression and a"J" magneto. Cleaned up carburetor, JB Welded mag cover. Been using for 3 years to plow garden.
I have an excuse. CRS.

That is why I like auctions. A real deal for what you bought it for, but it turned out even better!

Re: Montgomery Ward Plow-Trac
I plow two small garden plots with it. My Cub with plow and disk harrow is about 14 or 15 miles from the garden plots. I can have the garden plots worked in less time than I can move the Cub and equipment.tezell63 wrote:I bet that thing works really good. Nice find.
I use a Cub Cadet to tow a disk harrow and peg toothed harrow that were used with 2 wheeled garden tractors to smooth up the garden plots. The two wheeled garden tractor works pretty well for plowing. Disk harrowing with the 2 wheeled garden tractor is a man killer - goes great in a straight line - turning a short radius - almost physically impossible. The Plow-Trac weighs about 400 lbs with plow installed. Removing the plow and installing the disk adds about another 100 lbs to the tractor and most of the weight is behind the wheels.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Re: Montgomery Ward Plow-Trac
The tractor has been in storage for about 8 or 10 years. Yesterday hauled the tractor to the acreage shop.
Remove the spark plug, still had compression and spark. Drained the old 10 years old gas with Stabil. Fresh gas, two cranks and it fired off.
Serviced the engine. Tires are not in good shape. $130 for new tires and tubes. Gonna use the tires until nothing left.
Plan is to plow and prep several strips in the bottom area where we are planting pecans. Forage radish near end of summer. Area is very low on humus.
Why the two wheeled garden tractor? Probably 30 minutes to plow the desired area. Not really enough room to turn around one of the larger tractors and the trailer type 2 bottom plow. Also have another area that needs seeded - can't get the larger tractor in the area.
