Scythe Handles?

This weekend I was at our local farm sale and let me just say there was nothing there for a Cub, let alone a Farmall So I was under the junk tents looking at tools and saw a pile of old scythe's. I bought 4 for $20 which I thought was a pretty good deal, didn't need them but thought It'd be something to tinker on. 1 is real usable the others the handles wood which plays an important role in tightening them is stripped out. I was wondering if anyone knew where you could buy new Snath's as I've learned they're called. My online searches found everything from $89 and up. Just a tad pricey for playing.

Cumberland General Store (the one in Georga). You can frequently find their catalog on the news stands in grocery stores (at least in this area). They have an on line catalog - but it wouldn't load up last night.

Why just "play"? Using a scythe is a great work out, doesn't create noise pollution, doesn't burn hydrocarbons, you don't have to pay to go to the gym. Using one correctly takes a lot of practice, can be rewarding when done correctly. OK, "rewarding" might be an exaggeration.

Check out Lehman's for sure! They are located in Kidron, OH. The surrounding area is heavily populated with Amish folks and Lehman's caters heavily to their needs. It's an amazing store that covers a full city block. They carry old school stuff you can't believe. They have a web site, just Google Lehman's.
