Any of you boys out there make your own targets for 22 cal. plinking ???
I've got plenty of steel, rodding, welder, cutters to make things with. I've never shot at these type of targets and I've only seen them in pictures. I thought that would be the way to go to keep a new shooter excited about the sport.
If you have any plans or ideas I'd like to see something to go by...
Thanks !

Re: Plinking
Thanks Don, that gives me some ideas, but what I'm really looking for something that hangs and spins once it's shot to add a little fun for a new shooter. I have a few ideas but was wondering if maybe a member had home brewed anything...

Yogie, Bring the steel to DSCF. Barnyard will do the bends on his knee for you after he finishes the gas lines.

I would love to attend Bob, but only having 2 weeks off a year pretty much limits my distance to travel.
As a new one this year I hope to make Stone Throw in Sept.

Tin cans on ground or hung on a string. Done shooting - cut string - throw cans in trash.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Cans or anything works well to keep young ones excited about coming back for more fun.
We have several local shooting ranges to shoot at and I also hope to build a shooting bench to use at the farm. I've ben looking for an old school desk, that would work well.

Re: Plinking
Okay, I had a couple hours to play one day earlier this week so I welded up a little something. I didn't have enough round stock so I used 3/4" square instead. I thought maybe hanging them on chains would add a little more fun also.
I ran a piece of angle across the center to pin paper targets on later if needed. I always like picking up spent shotgun shells to lay on their sides and shoot the brass.
I don't know if a 22 lead point will cut a steel chain or not, if so weld regroup and reweld some other way....
If we move it around any place off the farm I might take the time to weld some rings on it to make it lay flat like Eugenes target.
Thanks for the help !

Yogie, Just stack those tires a little closer together and you'll have an indoor range.

Bob, those tires are like gold now.
They've gone up in prices about 50% or more in the past year, don't understand it, oil goes up and down while anything related never comes down again.
A little note to anyone buying tires, check the dot numbers on the sidewalls. The last 2 numbers are the year they were made. Our dealers are no longer adjusting anything over 3 years old if you have a problem so make sure the tires your buying haven't been sitting in stock for a while...
