desktop icons??

Postby Rick Prentice » Sun Oct 17, 2010 1:33 pm

I have a question :D When I turn my computer on and all the icons are visible on the desktop, how can I apply the color logo in each icon? For the longest time just the I.E. big blue e insignia was on the farmallcub icon, now yesterday a tiny color IH appeared. I notice that some of my other icons have a color logo that's associated with each site, and the rest just have the Internet Explorer "e"

Not any big deal, just trying to attain a partial "GEEK" statis :D :D

Rick,
I am going out on a limb here, since I am not a web programmer. But I think the site has control of that some way. If the icon isn't specified, then you simply get the "e".

Roy:

That is a good way to say it I guess. Most sites now employ what is known as a favicon or a favorite icon to indicate which site is up on the tab. This works in just about all of the browsers. For my site, the favicon is a Cub Tractor -- to indicate the manual server and Dennis has the IH symbol for Farmallcub.com. This is really neat as I now know at a glance what sites are open in what tab... really excellent. Most sites now have the favicon enabled/embedded.

The favicon was one of the really neat things that Firefox initiated along with tabs that IE and the other browsers had to catch up on.

Rick

You can change your icon to something different if you like. Right click on the icon and select properties. Once there look for the shortcut tab at top and select it. Then you should be able to find a button on the bottom that says "change icon" Click on that then in a new window that pops up it will allow you to select from different icons if available. If there are none that you like or none period like mine you select the browse button and go to you favorite picture album and select the pic that you would like to represent that shortcut. Hope this helps.
