Re: $$It depends on your wants/needs, financial conditions, and shop capabilities, but the price is reasonable. if the exhaust is uncovered figure on piston and sleeve kits, and probably heads. If exhausts are covered the problems probably will not be so extreme.

Re: $$Dan:
I would evaluate the entire machines, tires, sheet metal ETC and if those parts are reasonably good I would purchase them, after giving the( "poorer than church mouse") routine to see if I could get a better price. You can hopefully make most of one out of the both of them and sell some parts to help with expenses. That's my 02. worth. Berlin I seem to know more and more about less and less, soon I'll know everything about nothing !
Re: $$I'm going down to look at them Saturday. I'm getting conflicting specs on the width. One says 70" and another says 84" It would be nice to know before hand. Anyone got an M?

Re: $$All depends on the rear tread setting. I bet they are somewhere in between 70" and 84" from center to center of each rear tire.
That works out to $500 apiece. I would negotiate for a better price, but if they are straight and all there, I am not sure it's SUCH a bad deal. Not a steal, but not a ripoff. I'd probably give that for a pair of nice straight non-running Cubs. Al "12 volt conversions are for quitters"

Re: $$Update: I found the M's. The M back tires are shot fronts unknown. It has a complete sickle mower on it with Lift All attached. Antifreeze in the radiator and black oil in the pan. Some rust but it's all there. The Super M is completely overgrown with vines etc. Looks like the tires may have some air in them and the rears are usable. Nothing showing in the radiator. I drained about 2 quarts of clear water from the pan before the dirty oil. Original lights and tool box on the SM. None on the M. I could not get to the back of the SM for the overgrowth. It would take a big winch to get both of them up to the road. Oh yeah both exhaust pipes are covered. The cost of getting and delivering them 150 miles away will make the decision. PS the SM has live hydraulics and both have mags.

Re: $$
Dan, Just got a SM from Denny. It was set out to 92 1/2 from outside the rears. That required an 8' trailer to tow. For what it's worth. In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity. - Albert Einstein

Re: $$Dan, you just upped the repair cost. New rear tires for M or Super M will run $350 and up per tire.
