My Sister found these old photos of my dads first tractor(Fordson). They were taken around 1943 judging from the size of me on his lap. I must have been about three or four. Thought they might be of some interest.

I know he bought it used. I know he used it for about five years then sold it to our neighbor. It was still behind his barn when I left New Jersey in 1963. Might still be there! I don't think the paint they used on those old Fordson's was that good. I've never seen one that had any paint left. Pictures were taken on our place in Martinsville, New Jersey had to be around 1943 or 44.

I live in Randolph, but I go through Martinsville occasionally on my way to Bound Brook. Let me know where your old neighbor lives, and I'll try to see if it is still there. I'll get a photo of it if it is, and post it here.

Dad said my Grandpa had a
fordson, and many times he would crank on it until he was exhausted and go back to the house for a cup of coffee and rest a little, then when he came back out it would strt on the first pull of the crank. Dad said he coudn't count the times Grandpa said that if he could afford the dinamite he'd blow it into the next county.

Paul,
I don't know who lives there now. The neighbor's son and I left for California in 1963. My parents and his parents followed shortly thereafter. I was back there about six years ago. It's so overgrown now you can't even tell it was once farm land. The house is on Fieldstone road. It should be the first road on the left as you go south on Chimney Rock Road towards Bound Brook. Turn left on Fieldstone Road. It will be the second house on the left. I don't know anyone in the old neighborhood anymore, so don't get shot! Come to think of it, If you ask anyone in town if they remember me and they do, you might have a real good chance of getting shot! If it's still there, after sixty one years of added age and the harsh weather, it's probably a pile of rust.
