Yep, that's how it's done. I have gotten out of jams using them split a few times when it's been wet in the barnyard.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

I wish he would put up the dogs before he runs over them backing up without looking.

that's how I drive year round, unless I'm goin on the road, been stuck plenty of times, even while using the steering brakes :P they do wok well in deep snow with a narrow front end and big bucket like that...

Survival of the fittest? I long ago decided that if you start locking dogs up you will always have to keep them locked up. Mine learn to avoid moving vehicles by a wide berth. This can be reinforced by using a shock collar. One of the few great uses I've found for shock collars.
