switching engines
HELP ! I have a 108 with a K241A engine, that is completely worn out.The only thing that is any good is the head and valves. I am currently looking at a 12Hp engine. Can anyone tell me if it will in the frame without any major promlems, and if I have to can I use the head off the 10Hp on the 12Hp block. The 108 I have is only a three speed standard shift,no creeper or Hydro. I do not know very much about these tractors.Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Bruce

Hi Bruce: The 12 HP should drop right in there but make sure you get a Kohler that was in a cub cadet as there are different pans and crankshaft ends. The heads are suppose to be the same.
The Geezer from IHregistry.com which crashed and is now Cub Cadet Collectors.

All the IH built Cub Cadet 12, 14, 16 hp engines had that drop in the oil pan, and it will tuck right in behind the front cross member, but as William said, the engine must be from/for a IH built Cub Cadet. The base of the block, and the pan shape in the mounting area can be different on "other" Kohlers, plus the length, diameter, and shape of the crank PTO end can be different on "other" ones (there are 28 different ones for the 12 hp K 301 engine).

Yes he was. But I had the experts look at my K241A.Everything was too warn except the head. I had bought another K241S it urned out to be a generator, Roger explained that to me. So I am looking for an engine. I am like a dog looking for a bone.I will find one,but they are scarce.I want a Koyhler.
