Exhaust Pipe Question
I am replacing the manifold on my cub and will need a new pipe also. Is there a correct length?? Some I see are really tall and some are just a few inches above the hood.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use duct tape.

How does the muffler connect to the pipe? I have to replace the entire exhaust system on my NEW old Cub. The old manifold has a big hole in it. And the muffler was replaced with a length of 4'" diameter pipe going back down to a 1" angle. Previous owner made his own muffler! But I will replace the entire everything. How do I get the old manifold off without breaking the studs off the block? Help.

exhaust pipe
Muffler fits over exhaust pipe and is held in place by a clamp. Check out an earlier post on the subject "First Cub". There were some tips on removing the exhaust manifold.

John,
That's just a new muffler, it had a straight pipe on it before.
I thought, why don't I just change that out? I have a piece of stainless pipe, went out and bought a muffler. As soon as I touched it, the pipe came off at the manifold and left it's threads behind.
So......... off came the manifold....... buy a 1" pipe tap to chase the threads. It's never simple. You can see in the picture, I didn't even have a clamp on the muffler yet.
