Barn raising in Dartmouth MA!!!

Postby CapeCodCubs » Wed Oct 15, 2008 1:11 pm

Hey guys,

Posting this because over the weekend I had a great experience helping JimDawg, his brother and dad put up a pole barn at their place. We got all the trusses up in one day and you can see in the fore ground JimDawg's Cub resting in the shade waiting to get into his new home. Off the the right is one of Jim's dad's old time pickups one of several from "back in the day" when their land was known as "Perrys Dairy Farm". One of several dairy farms that once graced the Dartmouth countryside.

Nah, the guy in the boom truck had a megaphone and was yelling at us to hurry up. Never once was it used to lift the trusses.

The barn dimensins are 30' x 60' for the main barn and there's and 24' by 24' room off the side for mechanical work. The trusses are 4' on center spacing. It took 1 day to but up the trusses and purlins with 3 guys. I wish it was in my backyard, too.

I've got the best deal of all....

1.) the barn is going to be in my backyard (my father and I are about to be neighbors)
2.) ...didn't cost me a dime
3.) And because I was in class all day, the crew was 7 hours into the project before I got there!

The barn is coming out great though, now we have room for ore cubs! Possibly an H or M too...
