1951 Farmall M - thoughts on value please..

Postby smack » Fri Oct 10, 2008 8:17 pm

I know every tractor is different and this is hard to do with an email, but I'd be interested in hearing thoughts on the value of a 1951 M. Seems to run perfectly - started instantly when cold, no smoke, clutch, gears and brakes seem fine. It is 'weathered' in that it has been outside for at least 4-5 years if not longer, and has an oxidized finish and a complete stripping and repainting will be necessary. Will need tires and one rear rim, but otherwise no immediate fixes needed. The owner seems absolutely stuck at $2K but it is NOT moving at that price and so far my $1300.00 offer is not working. Thanks in advance for your advice and thoughts. P.S. my goal is to return the tractor to her former glory and be big brother to my two Cubs.

M is the most common tractor in the US, and your offer is about right. rear tires will be around $400 each.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

New rear rim - $300-. Used $100-. Around $1500- for a working M in this area.

I think your $1300- bid is about $300- over priced. The other side of the coin is that I don't know what M's are going for in your local.
I have an excuse. CRS.

A good M here with good rubber and ready to work $1500 to $2000 you will have to spend around $1000 on the one you are talking about if you have to put tires and a rim on it That would put it at $2300 if he takes your offer. But then again The prices of tractors are quit a bit different in some areas of the country. And if it is close by to you it would make it worth a bit more as there would not be a hauling expense.
