When you put it all back together, don't forget to put some anti-seize on the threads, so your great-great grandkids won't be cussing you 50 years from now.

Well, I guess if you dont see any brackets just forward of the headlight mount holes then they are missing. They are originally spot welded on and a lot of times where they break off it appears to be 2 small holes wher the welds broke. 1 of mine was drilled at the weld points and fastened with screws so I rewelded that bracket on and filled the screw holes. The shallowest hood heighth in front is where they would be if they are there, If not look for small holes or signs of broken off spot welds. Other than taking a picture thats the best I can explain it.

Well, that explains that little hole and the little spot-welds.

Problem is that if you look close you'll notice Bud's paint job isn't holding up too well. Actually that belongs to a neighbor who brought it over asking if I would see why his governor wasn't working.

I couldn't understand why my pictures came out blurry and washed out, until looking at the camera at home I relaized I had left it programed for night photography the last time I used it.

I hate to admit it, but I forgot to tell Bud that the clips on Missy were broken off the hood, and he didin't realize it until after it was painted. Mine are now mounted with bolts.

Don't feel bad, I had my cub over a year before someone on the board pointed out that those clips were welded on, not bolted. My first clue was that I couldn't find those clips in the parts manual.

I would like to point out, the rad supports should be put on with the welded nuts on the back facing the front. WARNING use a very short bolt(one half inch) or you will damage the top of the rad  Don!t ask.Oh !!my new cored rad Did I do that ? :

Bad manual...

Postby allenlook » Wed Sep 01, 2004 7:23 pm

The bad part is that in the parts manual, the radiator supports are drawn so that they *look* like the welded nut should be positioned toward the rear of the tractor!

It's very hard to see (as are many drawings in the manuals) but going by the "size" of the holes drawn, and by the 3-d aspect of one of the holes on the radiator support in the foreground, it really looks to me like the manual is backwards.

I am gonna need a pair of clips myself. Keep me in mind when you have them. :)
If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use duct tape.

Yup, will post when they are available. Hopefully next week. Got a couple battery boxes and a pto shield to get finished first. The clips will be next.
