Cub-3 Spring Tooth Field Cultivator

Postby Dave Hull » Sun Aug 29, 2004 8:53 am

Any body know if the cub-3 field cultivator is plentiful. I have one with my 1978 cub and I am not sure what I can do with it. What where they designed to do?

Dave, it is a tillage tool. Designed for seed bed preparation Primarily, you would use it following plowing to further break up the clods and level the soil in preparation for planting.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Dave, I took that picture at Cubarama last year. As far as I know, that is an original color scheme. I can't recall who owns it.

How many

Postby Dave Hull » Mon Aug 30, 2004 8:14 pm

BigDog,
Mine is the first I had seen, how many have your ran across?

Been working on my 47 but the magneto has proven to be a little more of a challenge than the distributors.

I have seen 2 or 3 of them just recently. They're not real common in my area as cubs were not real common either. Too small for most of the farms here. And it seems that most of the larger farm market operations were using A's or 8N Fords.

I have only seen a few of the field cultivators. Some of these things can be pretty regional. Maybe if we looked in the right place we would find a lot of them. Don't know where the right place would be.

I don't remember who the one pictured belongs to. He chose the colors to go with his yellow/white Cub. Originally the white parts would have been blue, the black parts black and the yellow probably cream.
