Identifiying the year of my 154
I’ve had a 154 for about 5 years or more. I never could find a serial number tag on it. I have now stripped it down to the frame and have yet to find a tag. I guess it was lost long ago. Can I identify it’s year by the engine serial numbers and casting numbers? I’m going to be cleaning it up today and thought I would get the serial number and see if I figure out the year of manufacture. Is this possible?

It was on the upper part of the left frame near the radiator sitting horizontal almost above the axle.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

Yes, it can be done, sorta!! The numbered series cubs (154, 185, 184) used the same basic engine that the standard cubs and lowboys did. The transmissions were also the same as well as the finals. With that being said, the casting dates can be used to find out what year they were cast, but not necessiarly what year they were put together as a whole tractor and tagged with Serial Number. The Engine SN also falls into line with the regular cubs as far as number order. The 154's were only made between the years 1968 - 1974.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info guys. I didn't get around to getting that serial number. Got sidetracked on another project that ate up most of my day. Maybe tomorrow. All I have to go on is the serial number on the engine. I'll try to track it down that way.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
