Is it possible to get everyone to put the state first. And it be a required field when they join. It does not seem to be a lot to ask.

Because when someone asks a question you'd be willing to help in person by going to their place you should be able to tell what continent they are on. Failure to put their rough location in their profile is inconsiderate.

Re: Location
Right on, Mr. George. I was also thinking that it would be very useful when searching (sorting) by location. If I were looking for cubbers in Florida, they would all sort "together" making it much easier to find them. If you listed City first, there is not the same commonality to group them. Just my 2cents worth.

Re: Location
I have said this before and I will say it again.
Filling out the profile information here on the site, is quite safe. There is far less information ie city, state, county, than what can be found in your local telephone book. All of the telephone book data has been available on the internet for almost 20 years now.. check 411 or any of the other number lookup engines.. and poof you can find a heck of a lot more than what is asked for in the profile.
It sure would help for the occassional get together or even preliminary cub fest gathering planning etc...

Very true about the Internet searches, Rudi. It is almost scary what you can find out about yourself on the 'Net with a bit of searching.

Re: Location
Since I'm the only person on earth with my name, I'm rather easy to track. I Googled myself with various iterations of my name and initials. There is well over 10 pages of information, not including the few references to me from Farmallcub.

Re: Location
Carl:
Excellent point. IF those who are leery of putting in their State, City, County info.. just googled their own names ... boy would they get a shock.. The information that is available to just about anyone is mind boggling. I have been present on the internet since the early 90's.. mostly with my Amateur Radio, but also my military profile and stuff.
So actually filling out your profile here is about as info neutral as you can get.... pretty safe.
