Oil Filter

Postby Ricaroo » Mon Jul 26, 2004 9:28 am

I went to the local NAPA store for Plugs, cap, rotor and oil filter for my 58 cub The only thing they have is the Plugs. The guy says he can't get the other stuff. I can remember getting all that kind of stuff from napa for my Farmall A. Anyway has anyone changed the plugs on a cub without taking the tin off? It sure would be good if I did not have to.

Rick, yes, it can be done. Take an air hose and blow the dirt etc. out before removing the plugs. Just use a combination wrench instead of a socket.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Rick-

NAPA has those parts available. The counterman you talked to either is too new to know where to look or he doesn't want to bother looking it up.

Donny and all:

I take it the IH-300 at NAPA is for the distributor and NOT the Magneto?

The only place I know of to get the magneto rotor is Case/IH. I bought an aftermarket cap to go with mine when I first rebuilt it 17 years ago, and promptly broke the rotor. Ever since I get the caps from IH also.

If you can't find the oil filter at Napa ask for Purerolator L20009. They are the ones I use.
-Finesse is choosing the right size hammer.

-As soon as something is made idiot-proof they make a better idiot.

I went back to napa and spoke with a different parts person and was able to get all the items I needed. The IH300 is the rotor for the bat ing.
Thank You
Rick
