Now what?
I am getting frustrated. I finally got done with the transmission. I was putting the last bolt into the top bearing cap and then the bolt snapped off just about flush with the transmission. I think the hole might be stripped too. What can I do?

You can drill it out in progressively larger steps. If you happen to have left hand drill bits, so much the better. If the case is stripped, use a helicoil to repair it.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

You have me curious, how do you use the scribe to remove broken bolts? I have an electric one, but don't see how it would do any good.David C wrote:At work we use an air scribe to remove broken bolts. its an air powered tool engraver. If you have an electric one try it out...

Sorry John for the long delay for a reply, Went to Watertown NY for a family reunion... As long as the bolt doesnt have loctite on it this works "pretty-good" , I just take my center punch and make an initial hole in the top of the bolt ,towards the outer circumference, (staying out of the threads), then I use the scribe to unscrew the broken bolt. the vibrating effect of the scribe sure makes the bolt come out better than just a center punch alone...
p.s. be sure to use penetrating oil "Often"

thanks for the hat @ red power round up!!
