S/N tag? Point gap?

Postby Mark Gough » Thu Jul 22, 2004 12:01 pm

I appreciate the information on my carb, it turned out that it was beyond repair. Someone had broken a piece out of the side, either by the wrong nut being used or a wrench. I have ordered a new Zenith.
Next, is there a replacement S/N tag available. I have the old one, but it is coroded around the rivet holes.
Also, what is the point gap for my 1951 Cub, with battery ignition(not magneto).
I really appreciate your help,
Mark Gough

here's the link: http://www.oemtractorparts.com/oem_cata ... s21-30.pdf

It is in .pdf form, so you'll have to have adobe acrobat reader installed. They have the tags with the brass rivets included.

I recently got a replacement from OEM, and the serial tag looked good, but I had 2 problems with it. The rivets they sent were to big for the original holes, and the holes in the tag were not spaced quite right. I wasn't too crazy about the $8 shipping and handling charge for an item that came in an envelope wit 67 cents postage on it either. Someone posted a link to another source, but I don't remeber who it was.

Guys:

Anymore info that is available on Bob I really would appreciate. Also, as a reminder, any info on your favourite specialty place would be useful info for the server. Always looking to update!

Guys, Bob is a former IH Engineer from Hinsdale IL. He knows which Ser# for each tractor as ther were different tags for different tractors and different years.

His tags are from pure American alumimum not Tawian impure that blows up when you stamp the numbers.

Thanks for the information

Thanks for the replies. I have talked to Bob on the phone, and he is a pleasure to talk to. He told me about a new head, and intake manifold that is available, along with better pistons. I just got the new Zenith carb on my Cub, and wow!
