154 front wheel bearing ?

Postby John in Ct » Fri Apr 11, 2008 5:46 pm

I just replaced the Front wheel bearings and hub on my IH 154 Cub Lo-Boy with new ones from IH. When I greased it, I greased it like I have been doing for years ( until some grease just starts to comes out) Now, when I greased the new one, one of the two wheel bearings started to press out from the grease and no grease came out. Any ideas?

Maybe the new ones are sealed bearings? On some replacement bearings I've gotten over the years, the old bearing was open, the replacement a sealed one.

If your bearingsare sealed don't shoot too much grease in them or you actually push the seal to squirt out the grease. If the bearings are shielded then the grease will come out when its full. I think these bearings are shielded then they use the larger diameter washer to cover them.

I like to prepack the bearings before installation so there full of grease when i install them, then i just pump some grease into the hub and its good to go.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.
