Delco-Remy Starter

Postby johnbron » Mon Jun 21, 2004 1:46 pm

I am getting ready to clean my still red with mostly rust surfaced starter motor and it would make it easier if I could get the Delco-Remy tag off of it. There are 2 rivets and was wondering if anybody has been able to remove the rivets. Are they push in rivets or do they go through the casing and have a mushroomed end?.

JB, I believe those are driven in like the nameplate rivets. I do not believe they are through-rivets.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Thanks B.D., I will disturb the little buggers and and see if I can work them off without warping the tag. :{_}:

 I tried my best and decided these rivets are not to be removed easily so I gave up and will clean & paint around them. The Cub name-tag-info rivets on the block came out fairly easy for being in there 50+ years but these starter rivets wont budge. :o
