Cub Cadet Original

Postby Gene Chestnutt » Sun Apr 25, 2004 11:32 am

Hello,
I am looking at purchasing a Cub Cadet Original. I know very little about this line of tractors. This particular tractor runs good, appears complete, sheet metal perfect, paint original. The mowing deck seems to be in good shape and operates fine. It appears to be an original, lightly used piece of equipment. Would this line of tractor be able to handle mowing approximately 3/4 acre lawn on a regular basis and what kind of price range are these tractors bringing. Thanks in advance for all advice.

Iknow very little about cub cadets, but I would think it should handle it with no problems. You will get answers from people that know a lot more about them than I do. In the meantime you may want to go to http://ihcubcadet.com/ and look around some.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Gene,
The original has a 7hp Kohler and a 38" deck.
The blades on the deck are timed and overlap for a real nice cut. For 3/4 of an acre, it'd be great and would still outlast the neighbors Craftsmans for the next 30 or 40 years.
Like John said, the ihcubcadet site is great for information and so is the ihregistry.

I just took my original to our plow days this weekend and it pulled a 10 Brinley plow quite nicely. (There are pics of my original on the picture pages here).

Scott, was the original's seat padded or bare painted metal? The photo above looks like metal, but I noticed your's was padded. Was that an option?

BTW: I picked up a 1962 Original with the mower deck last weekend. It's a project now...

Dennis,

The seat pad was an option. They sure look nice on the seats though.

Thanks AC and Scott.

Your right about the addictive part, red or yellow/white they do hook you. In fact, I think IH could also stand for "I'm Hooked"

Hi Dennis,

I would like to add my two Cub Cadets to your Cub Cadet photo gallery. How do I go about doing that? I appreciate it. Thanks.

You can email them to me at cub@farmallcub.com and I'll have them posted. Be sure to include information on them, s/n's, year, etc. If you've named them, send that too.

Yes I did AC, I'm hoping one of my co-moderators will be able to post them soon... I may have overwhelmed them with some of my instructions for the gallery, at least I hope not :)
