Good used replacements can be obtained from several of the advertisers listed on this website. You may be able to salvage yours by filing the notches with a triangular file to deepen the notch. The throttle lever can be welded up and re-formed.

Bigdog is on the right track. It's kinda like the chicken and egg. Do worn notches cause the wear on the lever, or does a worn lever cause the notches to wear? Many of mine have been repaired by replaceing the metal on top and filing new notches. The lever must be built back up at the same time.

Last time I checked new ones were still available. To reduce wear in the future don't slide the lever on the selector on the plate. Always pull it clear before moving it.

you are part of the problem!!!

That's very true, John... but keep in mind that the bottom contact point will wear too and also need re-newing on both surfaces. I don't think that part can be avoided.

Yup, new ones are still available, but they are all shipped from Indianapolis. Why do I know this you may ask :?:  Just ordered 2 of them.

As George has so aptly stated, yes they can be repaired. I ordered new ones so I have some whilst I repair the other 2.... hopefully now, I will always have 2 ready to use as they are high wear items.

Thanks, I think I will order a new one. No time to rework the old since I seem to be spending too much time in the Garden lately. (Good Thing)

Save the old one and work on it in the winter when the garden is sleeping :D

It is always nice to have a backup just in case you get another Cub :!: :!:
