Want to see a NOS Farmall 140?

Postby Super A » Thu Jan 17, 2008 3:18 pm

A good friend and a director of our Eastern NC IH Collectors Club posted this over on Red Power. I heard about this tractor back when I was in college in the late 90's, I had a good friend that lived in the area. NO, it's not for sale!

Yes it's one of the last ones. Notice the different steering wheel and the spin-on oil filter. It is just as it appeared fresh on the dealer's lot--never been in the field.

In that thread someone mentioned a Cub that was crated and new. Anyone know anything about that?

I wonder if they didn't mean a Cub Cadet. Cub tractors didn't come in crates, at least not in the US as far as I know...

I have a friend who bought a Copar Panzer garden tractor from the 40's that was new in the wood crate. He found it in an old dealership somewhere, it'd never been used.

Found this old thread while searching for something else. The link to the pics is still good, figured others might enjoy it. Never know what is out there in those barns and sheds!

Thanks AL !! I am really glad you brought this link back up. I am finishing a Farmall 140 restoration right now and about to start on another one (late 1975 model).

Boy if I could get my hands on one like that......It'd be a keeper for sure and might just have to build an enclosed garage just for it!

To me, and this is just one dude's opinion, but it seems a shame to just see it sitting there collecting dust. My take on older tractors is just like classic cars. What is the point of owning one if you are not going to use it?

There is a BIG part of me that agrees with you. I probably couldn't stand it--would eventually have to use it! On the other hand, there will never, ever, ever be another new one.

When I get a toy tractor model, I don't leave it in the box either!

I found this thread--again---searching for something else. Thought it would be fun to bring it back up for folks that may not have seen it.

Last I heard, the NOS 140 is still there..... :)

Resurrecting this thread one last time. The NOS 140 in Hurdle Mills, NC is going to be auctioned off soon.... :( Don't know the story on why but come December, it could be yours!

https://www.rbauction.com/1979-INTERNAT ... NC-2016253

From their Facebook post: -1979 International Farmall 140, purchased new and is unused. This tractor was put up since new, stored in a building. It was the last year for the 140 Farmall, serial number 66838J.

Hope someone who will appreciate it gets it.

For a NOS stored since new unit, it appears to have been painted.
Nice Tractor, hope a member gets it.

Thanks for brining this up Al! Wicked cool to see something like that! Someone should have done a paint matching with it. It would help with the never ending discussion of what the correct shade of red is!
