'slightly' larger engine for my cub!

this won't quite fit on a cub, but i thought it might be of interest to a few people.

It is a 1938, 4 cylinder, 2 stroke diesel, Fairbanks Morse engine. it was used to turn a generator to make power for fire control pumps for the City of New Britain. they are removing them from service and the contractor has offered them to us for display use at the Zagray Farm Museum.
Moving them will be quite a task, as the motor without the generator or flywheel is estimated at 20 ton.

now, that would be a SUPER CUB, for sure

I live in Wolcott, Ct and work for Conn Light and Power. Good thing their retiring that old girl...Can only guess who's providing power in its place. At good ole CL&P we're working hard to keep the lights on! Looking foward to seeing this monster at the Colcherster Show in the future. Great Picture.

My first job was at Plainville Electroplating in CT and one of the tasks was cleaning the basement. Built in the 1920's, the company used 2 hugemongous generators to provide their DC power and I had to remove the engines............. Heh - headline: Hippie crushed while cleaning Basement.
