Another Question

Postby Donny M » Sat Apr 10, 2004 6:16 pm

When I took 49-1 apart I noticed a spring between the 2 pivot points on the throw-out bearing yoke. I didn't see this on the 55 or in the parts manual. It appears that the spring is used to keep tension at the pivot points.

And the question is:

Is that spring supposed to be there and is it really needed :?:

I have 1 with and 1 without. :?

I admit that my experience with throw out yokes has been limited, but I've never seen a spring where you described, nor can I find it mentioned in the parts book.

Hey Donny,

TOSS IT :!:

The bolt that holds the yoke halves together should be sufficient.

OK

Three of us say to toss it but I still wonder how and why it's there :?: :?:

Hey Donny,

The spring you are asking about was probably an extra laying on
the bench when assembled and it was getting late on Friday
