Found a Good One

Postby Yo's Dad » Sun Mar 21, 2004 5:17 pm

My daughter (Yo's older sister), took me by a 53 cub this afternoon sitting by the side of the road for sale. Since I was with her, I didn't have a camera, but here are the details.

53 regular cub (didn't check the S/N for date)
S/N 1800195
All original
International Bush Hog attached (single blade)
Some sort of tiller goes with it (didn't see the tiller)
distributor, not mag
Original looking rear tires
rear wheel weights
Still 6-volt
Rear white light
Original front lights
Ammeter
IH carb
wire mesh grill
pan seat
missing bat box cover
no dents or rust in sheet metal
steering with typical play

Been in the family since 1960

Son is executor of the estate

Wants $1500 for all, plus manuals and misc spare parts.

This cub would make a very nice restoration. All original and no missing parts that I could see.

The shifter lever is broken loose from the lower spherical piece that keeps it from comming up.

Bigdog,

Deliver!!!!!!!! That's a perfect excuse to drive down, pick up a piece of Americana, eat some Buddy's Barbecue and listen to Charlie Daniels. So YD, is it springtime down there yet? We are getting teased with a few warm days here in Maryland........Bill V in Md

BD and BV: The Bradford Pears are in full bloom, wasps are flying all around, neighbors are already mowing their grass. Still a little raw today and windy, but Spring is almost here. Took this pic out in the front yard today.

Just west of the Lakeshore Mental Health Hospital on Northshore drive. I have a phone number at home and will email it to you tonight if I can remember.

Glad to hear you got the Cub. Have you got a Bill from YD yet?. Ya know he charges a finders fee. Grover eats a lot which requires an extra income.

Speaking of YD. YD., I have been studying your Avatar and cant figure out if its a house with a chimney on the side or :?:

FarmPlowBoy:

Happy to hear you got what I hope was a good cub and a good deal. If things were a little different, I would have jumped on it myself. Good luck with it.

Johnbron:

I'd like to say that is Grover's dog house, but actually it is John Oliver's old homestead in Cades Cove, Smoky Mountains Nat'l Park. If you want to see a bigger pic of it, check out my web site. It is under the 'Nature' section. Couple pics of Yo are also on the site if you can figure out which one is her.

I'll see if'n I can get her to stick her head up over the fence. Now be nice and don't run her off again.

sunshine,

I haven't seen your little sis for so long I'm not sure I even recognize her. Did you scare her so bad she's hiding behind that wild cherry tree? Grandma wasn't sure either.
