Don McCombs wrote:Nice lookin garden George. What are you using to mulch your maters?
Marinated wood chips from a tree trimmer. This is my first year so I have no recommendations, but I think it may keep the 'maters off the dirt. After I plow it under I expect it to disappear.

Golly,
Your gardens in Ohio are higher than my feed corn here in Alabama!! This is the first year I can remember that the "Knee high" phrase could be used here. In fact, I got in a cultivation last Saturday (its not braggin'......just pathetic.....)
Things may be looking up though. We've had rain three days in a row. Sure hope we can save some of the stuff.....

I'm glad you're getting rain. We got .2 yesterday and it doubled our total for June. Even my zucinni stays the same size it was a week ago. I don't want to hear any viagra jokes.

George, I'll open the cover on the bed of my truck tonight, and collect some rain water and bring on Sunday. We've gotten rain every evening here since Monday, gald to finally see it. Had a bad storm come thru Tues evening, I got over an inch in 2 hrs. Bad thing is, it's so dry, comes down so hard, it never gets a chance to soak in.
