sicklebar cutter
In digging around in my wife's grandfathers barn, I found what we think to be a sicklebar hay cutter that mounts to a cub. Does anyone know any specifics on how this thing would mount? I have been unable to find any pictures to go by. Thanks. Brannon

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Manual-sicklebar mower
Brannon: I have an extra copy of the mower manual. I could drop it off tomorrow when I come to Magnolia. Let me know if you want me to do that. Dan

sicklebar cutter
Hi all. Thanks to the pictures and manuals, I have now identified and accounted for all the cutter pieces for my cub. Anyone know what color these things were when they were new? I plan on giving it a light blasting, then paint/reassemble. Thanks.Brannon

If it was from '49 most of it would have been blue. That color is not available from CaseIH any more. VanSickle 460 International Blue is supposed to match. Bermuda Ken can supply it. I have been told that Ace Hardware has a matching blue. I bought some in a rattle can a while ago but haven't tried it on anything yet.
The pitman and grass board were probably ochre at that time. You should be able to confirm that from the paint decisions in the HWS archives. You can look at my L-22 mower in the photo album on this site. It was painted with VanSickle paint. I have not managed to come up with any decals for it, so it is a bit naked.

Real nice job on the mower Jim. Does the bracket for hooking the chain on behind the starter use the tapered Cub implement bolts or just regular bolts, and how thick is the steel used it looks to be around 3/8. I pretty much have the dimensions figured out for the size, I just gotta get some shop time to get it done. T.J. Ps. I was hoping to see one of these on ebay but at the rate cub things are going at on there one of these would probably bring $150.00!
