Cubman, DON'T use sandpaper or emery cloth,,, troubles,,,,$$$$$!! Take your crank to a good engine rebuilder and have it checked, you may get away with a polish, or it may need to be turned, but either way, it's cheeper than having a rod come out through the side of the block!!!

Your post reminds me of a situation I was in last year with my '49 FCUB.
It also reminds me of some good advice I gave myself.
YOU EITHER DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME OR, YOU DO IT OVER
I agree with partsman....let the machine shop do the work.

Posts like that scare me. The trolerances and concentricity on the crank journals have to be maintained or the crank will seize to the connecting rod due because the film thickness can no longer be maintained to acheive float. Result: Rod thru block in short order. Unless you are a machinist with a engine lathe, don't work on the crank and or bearings at home. Take it to a machine shop.
