Farmall #10 trailer

I recently looked at a farmall cub for sale and it came with a trailer, a #10 I believe, was this the right trailer for the cub? and are they wanted by collectors? if I buy the cub I wouldn't really want the trailer.

Brandon, here the McCormick 2-wheel Farm Trailer. It seems to me that the #10 trailer is slightly larger and lower to the ground, but I'm also remembering back to when I was only 4' tall and rode around in one behind my grandfather's 184 lo-boy.

I have a cub 2 wheel trailer, needs alot of work and the previous owner put leaf springs under it, but I've bought another one, working on getting it home through the farmallcub express. Just didn't know what a #10 looked like.

Yea, that's what most of them look like. My grandfather had one that they kept painted and in good condition. Then, for some reason they just started letting it go. I found it last summer, pushed into the woods, and nothing but a rusty carcass. I could have kicked myself. I had thought that he was still using it, but turns out he got a new trailer about 10 years ago, a little smaller and lighter so it was easier to handle, and he just let the old one go.

Brandon, I'm not sure that your springs were put on by a previous owner as I have the same trailer and mine also has springs. the axel and tongue setup is different than the IH trailer as well. Mine does not tilt but has what looks to be the remains of a tongue support that might of had a foot on it to support the trailer when not hitched up. The only picture I have of it right now is when it was in use and you can't see much of the trailer. Looks like yours might have had round fenders. Mine has flat fenders.

I'm thinking IH purchased the bodies or entire assemblies from a trailer manufacturer. Have been trying to find out ever since I saw a picture of the IH trailer.

I found another one at a house next to a garage sale I went to in a neighboring town. Talked to the guy and he was desparately looking for a spare for it. I had discovered on mine anyway that they were an early 60's Ford rim like off of a Falcon. His had the rounded fenders.

I purchased mine with an Original 1 Owner 1950 cub package. Everything was in one barn, Cub came with Trailer, 172 planter with row markers, sidedresser, 2 way plows, sickle mower, disk, drawbar, swinging drawbar, and belt pulley. Everything but a snow blade. I'll take some pics of the bottom of mine, but it has the original tongue with the brace that looks like a drawbridge you can see it in this picture also it has the same hubs and 16 inch rims. The owner fixed it so it wouldn't "dump" his calves when he took them to market. It also has an owner added ball hitch but the tongue wasn't cut you can see the bolt holes for the farm style hitch. But I'd be interested in some more pictures of your trailer and does it have the same tongue as mine?

As was mentioned above, the IH trailers were extremely similar to trailers sold by Ford and others at that time. None of the IH trailers had springs or fenders, so I'm guessing that your Brandon is not an original IH trailer, as it definitely shows signs of the fenders over the wheels.

IH worked with many equipment suppliers, and even had what they called "Allied Equipment" which was implements and accessories built by other companies but sold at IH dealerships. The Allied Equipment was often painted IH White so it matched the IH accessories. This allowed IH dealers to have as many options as possible, allowing implement manufacturers to focus on implements, and the tractor manufacturers to focus on tractors, thus reducing the costs of everything. This practice continues today, with companies like Woods, Bush Hog, Brinley Hardey, Ohio Steel, Agri-Fab, etc.
