Toy Cubs

Postby Jeff Silvey » Fri Feb 02, 2007 5:25 pm

Well I'm having a senior moment. I was going through my kids toy tractors. I knew they had these cubs. My question is how many was in the series :?: My mother bought the cubs for them during Xmas. I have mine thier's & my dads. Mom & dad have pasted. I just want to make sure they have one of each (MEMORIES) :) If someone can post a pic of each toy tractor it would be helpful.
Thanks
Everyone stay warm

I just sold some blue stripe yeller ones and red square hood ones on Ebay before Christmas. If you keep your eyes open they are around.

The hard to find one (oops EXPENSIVE one) is a standard red Cub with a vertical exhaust.

Just to add (or remove?) a little clarity on the Ertl Cubs. After the series of 7, they did a "Foxfire Friends" version. It is a blue stripe yellow/white that is almost (but not quite) identical to the blue stripe yellow/white Cub in the series. This one came with a little bear to sit on it. The box is labeled "Cub on a Cub". And then there will be one more for this year's RPR.

Here is one on eBay. Bidding is only at a penny but there is $17.50 shipping!

The Foxfire Cub is labeled "Cub on a Cub #B2". The box carries the number 4999 and a copyright date 1998. I don't know what the #B2 represents.

I happened into tractor supply last year after Christmas and they had the 2005 version for 40% off... about $11. But it's not the same as mine (blue stripe), so I gave one as a Christmas present and sold the other on eBay.

My friend has a cabinet with all sorts of green stuff in it. I told him to open the door to let it dry out cause them tractors was getting moldy in th JD 'shrine'.

Cub Hut.... nearest I can tell the Cub on Cub is identical to the 2005 and probably the 'original' blue stripe (white hood and dog leg) yeller Cub. The Foxfire one is copyright 1998.

Bought a couple of JD H's at TSC too... they were 40% off, good value - look at the price sticker.

The first blue stripe is a "special edition" which means they went to the trouble of painting the steering wheel black and cast "1991 edition" into the bell housing. The Foxfire version appears to be exactly the same except there is no special marking cast into the side.
