Set back on the "A"
Well I went down to get the tractor off the trailer just to find out it was still messed up. My dad thought he fixed it thought the clutch was stuck and freed it up. He didn't tell me he had the heater on it for a few hours that day. well yesterday we went to roll it off the tractor and I was like she is not gonna move it froze up. Sur enough I pulled th bottom drain plug on the tranny it was sold ice. put the heater on it and an hour later we had it thawed out. I wish I would have just thawed it out the day we picked it up but then again could have done that and still had to drag it onto the trailer.
The bad news is we put the carb back on after cleaning it and I looked up under the hood and saw clean through the manifold
I was like well that is why you could not start it the other day.
I grabbed the exhaust stack (straight pipe) and push gently and it came right off in my hand.
Time for a new manifold at least there not to awful bad.
now should I be looking for a used one or are the new aftermarket ones ok to buy?

Chad,
If the intake side is still intact (probable) the manifold shouldn't keep it from running. Scruffy was still able to run with this one.

The rusted away part is only on the exhaust side. Your intake side has been subject to much less heat than the exhaust and, like Scruffy's, still be intact. If that's the case, I would get it running before buying any parts. Many tractors keep their paint on the intake part of the manifold.

Chad
Chad,
The intake passages are from the carb to #2 and #5 of the 6 ports.

Thanks I never gave it much thought and since I the part is at home I can not look. I was getting super confused looking at the 6 ports thinking there should be 8 of them.
you say 2 and 5? I assume looking at your picture left to right.
Would the Farmall A be the same then? I bet it would have ran!

I can't say for sure about the A, but the 4 cylinders on most 4 cylinder engines share two intake ports.
