interior light on a cub

I use my 1959 lo-boy for snow plowing my driveway. During cold dark nights when I am plowing snow I can not see anything below my knees. I can’t see the amp gauge, the step, the paddles, the shift, or my feet for that matter. Getting on and off the cub can be a little dangerous in the dark so I decided to do something about it.

I bought a number plate light from an auto parts store and bolted it to a piece of angle iron (that stuff that the garage door guys use with all the holes in it) My cub is 6 volt so I was able to order a 6 volt light bulb from a web site. I bolted the angel iron to the front part of the deluxe seat.

The next step was to run a hot wire to the light switch on the cub. So now when I turn on my head lights the interior light comes on. Works reel well, give it a try.

The Cub that just followed me home has a 'dash' light.



Guess when I do the wiring I will power it. It shouldn't be too bright as it has a 'shade' on it.

When I rebuilt my cub a couple of years ago I used backlit guages and wired them into the headlights, so they are lit when the lights are on.

Nice Idea. This is where it belongs... easy to find... I may incorporate this into Ellie whilst I am working on other projects with her as well..
