Just saying hello. Recently sold my Super M that I restored. Hard work to say the least. Soon after I sold it the tractor bug bit HARD. I needed another one to tinker with. So I figured I'd go with half the tractor the SM was. Easier to store, transport and cheaper over all. Hence the 100 I recently purchased fully restored. Runs like a Swiss watch. Starts hot cold warm with ease. LOVE IT! Next on the list, maybe a JD "A"? Always wanted a "popper" :wink:

BTW, I'm just a few miles north of Detroit. My little Farmall is a rarity around here :shock:

Nice tractor, might want to get one of the free replacement gas caps for it while the offer is still good. Otherwise they are about $30.00

Go to the cub forum and look under navistar gas cap , it is one of the stickys.

I knew about the gas cap issue, but never gave it much thought to be honest. Thanks for the info, I'll look into that.

Here are a few SM pics.

Day one when I brought it home. It was worn out in a big way. The compression was so weak I'm surprised it started. Funny thing is notice the new SUPER M emblem on the side of the hood. The guy I bought it from stuck 2 new ones on. Kind of like throwing new wipers on a busted windshield.


The tractor was completely disassembled. I mean ever nut & bolt sheet metal etc. etc. was either media blasted, wire wheeled hot tanked or replaced. The engine was completely overhauled. Sad thing is the head is junk. It was supposedly "professionally" repaired only to leak upon our madden start-up. It was filling No. #4 cylinder right up with coolant(water, I never use anti-freeze until I know it's good to go). Buddy of mine bought it and helped in the final stages. He recently purchased another head that he completely rebuilt, magna-fluxed and pressure tested. Anyhow he performed the final paint job and threw on the decals.

My bud driving it at our annual Muscle Car Cruise. Believe it or not, it was a big hit with those gear heads :wink: He must have had 25+ kids trying to get their picture taking on it.



This time around I wanted one that was a turn key restoration. I found it. I'm taking a break from my resto passions. Maybe next time I'll look for a project JD 60 or 70 series. Always wanted to tear into one of those :shock:

Welcome and nice looking tractors. I saw a 100 a couple of weeks back still on the job. It sure did not look that good. You have got some good tractor restorers in Detroit rock city. Looks like you gots the tractor fever.Yeah baby! Stay away from that green stuff............only kidding.Johnny poppers, your neighbors will kill ya. :lol:

I agree, those 16.9x38 Firestone's F&R make it look like a "Hotwheels" hotrod My bud only lives two blocks away, so she hasn't hit the big acreage yet. Next year the old M will be hitting the shows & pulls. My 100 will just hit the shows and occasional pulls that fall into it's weight class.

The 560 thing is what I originally wanted. I had a line on one locally this fall and SERIOUSLY considered buying it. Almost did. But the lack of room won out. I have a few cars(70 GTX, Mustang etc.) and room was at a premium. Sold a few of the cars(except the GeTeX) so I might have room for another next year. Probably a JD as I said. The 560 dream will hit the back burner for now :? BTW my bud who purchased the SM also owns a 56 Cub that is a working restoration. Another words he's restoring it as it works :wink: He really brought it back from the dead. It's a nice clean running Cub with the one point fast hitch, disc harrow and front blade.

Everytime I try to order that Gas Cap, I get "An unknown error has occured". Anyone else get this? BTW, Merry Christmas all

I get to the gas cap site OK. Try deleting your cookies and try again.

I can get to it ok. After filling the info, I get that message. Now if I don't fill anything in and submit my request, it goes through ok just minus any info. Strange?

I see. Try again on Tuesday. Maybe the site is malfunctioning.
