A friend gave me this engine. Pics show some things missing, but I do have everything for it except a muffler. I believe with some cleaning ill be able to get it running. Are any of you familiar with this engine? I believe it was used on a hay baler. It's a model THD. Two cylinders sized 3.25 x 3.25. RPM is not legible. Any ideas other than a baler on what would be a good use for it?

Sorry, I can't help any on use, anywhere you need a small horizontal shaft engine I guess. What gave you the impression this was used on a baler? Who was the manfacturer? I know Case used Wisconsin engines on some early balers but they were V-4's. Vern

I believe they were used on ih 47 and jd 24t and most likely on others. The color on my engine is very similar to the early Case color. However, I cannot definitely say it is

They were used on JD 14T balers, and New Holland 66 balers.

Select manuals, then Wisconsin, for parts and service manuals.

10 hp at 1600 rpms. 16.4 hp at 2600 rpms. 16.8 hp at 3600 rpms.

Engine application, just about any thing.

These are the engines that built america to what it is today. I collect them. My welder is a hobart with a THD wisconsin engine.

BigBill that's very interesting. Could you send me pics of your welder? I'd love to have mine powering a welder. My email is twm1963@yahoo.com if that's easier for you. Thanks!

Bill:

Thanks for reminding me... I couldn't remember if it was a Lincoln or a Hobart -- but it is a Hobart welder. Big one ..

Hobart used both TJD and THD Wisconsin engines for some of their 200 amp range welders. I have two of them. Later welders in that range used Briggs single cylinder engines.

Seem to be tough engines. Parts are hard to find and expensive.
