Farmall Cub

I found a JD model B early styled, pressed wheels, no electricity, just a basic tractor. It is 2 hours from my home and as is weighs more than my trailer can haul and is wider than my trailer. The man who has it for sale lives alone with no phone, no bank account, and no easy way to contact him. My plan was to remove the back tires and front pedestal. That should get it to around 2300 lbs which my truck and trailer could manage. The problem is getting it on the trailer then removing the wheels. The axles will rest on the trailer sides and all would work if I could back the trailer under the back of the tractor. For anyone who has an early styled B, who high is the bottom of the tractor? In other words, what is the clearance of the drawbar whic I assume is the lowest point. I am trying to save some 4 hour round trips to look again at the tractor.

I would rent a heavier trailer and save myself some work. Those 10X38 wheels and tires are heavy to work with.

That was a thought that crossed my mind but I still suffer from the small truck syndrome. I may just rent a Uhaul truck and trailer depending on the price.

Or what I should do is not buy the tractor at all! But waht fun would that be!

I have an unstyled B. If those rear wheel have not been off in a while, you are looking at a challenge, friend. Been there.

Get you a truck & trailer that will haul it and save yourself some misery.

When I bought my '52 Model B, the only truck I had was a 1984 Toyota 4x4 with a lift kit with bigger tires and a 4 cylinder engine. The tractor had hydraulics and a 3 pt hitch. I towed it slowly back home which was about 45 minutes to an hour at the speed I was driving. I too would rent a larger trailer and maybe hit up a friend with a larger truck to haul it home.
