Friend of mine just aquired a nice Ferguson 40. Still has original paint and decals. Has no real rust at all just some very light surface rust. Runs like a top as well. Just curios as to what they are worth, had never seen a "Ferguson" before. Any help would be great. I will attempt to put up pictures this week.

Can't help with the current value of the tractor. Use to be that Ferguson tractors would sell for a price similiar to the Ford tractors of the same style and horsepower.

Ferguson tractors were not real common, but not uncommon, in Iowa.

You will find the components of the Ferguson to be a lot heavier than the Ford.
Pricewise, they are quite competitive, but the Fergusons are a bit harder to find parts for.

The Ferguson 40 was tested at Nebraska in 1956. They note that it appears identical to the Ferguson 50 except for color and trim details. My memory says that the Ferguson 40 and 50 use the same engine as the 35 with heavier and larger components for the rest of the tractor. Should contribute to durability but could seem underpowered for it's size. Might be less maneuverable than the smaller tractors of the same power rating. But the 40 would be one of the rarer models since production numbers probably were small.

My father's friend has a TO 30 and loves it. From what I've seen, it is a very nice tractor. I did some price checking a year ago in case the guy ever wanted to sell it. The Ferguson 30's were about double to triple the price for a cub--$3,500 - $5,000. But they are double the horse power as well as standard PTO and some other features. I think the 40's and 50's are larger and newer yet so probably more money.
