Farmall Cub

I have the carb that goes on my '45 B Farmall rebuilt and ready to go on the tractor. Problem is, I can't decided how to finish it. I do not want it to rust. I was thinking of painting it or spraying it with a clear enamel. Any ideas

Bud - I like the looks of either black or clear enamel.

Since almost all updraft carbs tend to deep a little over time, will those stand up to gasoline?

Is it me or is something wrong in this picture? On my low boy the choke lever is on the other side when viewed with the intake on the left and the gas line on the right.

B, A, etc. while similiar had many differences from a cub.

Bud, have you considered the small powder coat kit with heat gun that Harbor Freight sells. I've heard on other forums that people reall like them for small jobs.

Alodine is a chemical etch process that makes metal resistant to corrosion. I am familiar with it in relation to aircraft aluminum, but I'm sure it has other applications.

I think the powder coat is a neat idea. It would really look sharp.

Is this carb a different alloy material than the Cub The Cub carb that I redid looked like this after I soaked it in carb cleaner and weak muriatic acid. It cleaned up real shiney after a good war brushin'

This carb is made of cast iron and was originally painted red.

Jim,I just read your response better,Alodine will not work on cast Iron.But will work on cub's carbs,also hyd. pump housings.I was to quick to answer and I did not take a look at the carb in question. I like to get one of those powder coat guns. All you really need is a high enough temp.) oven
