This was posted on one of the ATIS bulletin boards, and I wondered if anyone could help the lady.

OK, I need some help here from those of you who know old tractors.

I am looking for a tractor like my grandpa's. My older sister say it was an IH, but I seem to think it was a massy... Anyway here is what I do know that might help you help me.

We know if is pre 1950, must likely 30's vintage.
We know it was a crank start
We know that it had a lever on the right side of the steering wheel that engaged the clutch.
Stick shift on the floor, but no clutch foot pedels.

Got any ideas???

I would love to find one like this to restore. Lots of memories of driving it on the peach ranch in CA. starting at about the age of 2, driving solo by age 4.

Thank you in advance for any and all feedback you can give me.

I don't know if this is what your friend is looking for John, but its a cool old Farmall F-12. Its sitting just a couple miles from my house in front of a church. I would be happy to inquire about its availability and price. 8)

Except for the crank start, the most obvious answer would be some model of John Deere.

Does she have any idea about the color?

There are several models of Case that fill the bill that would be either orange or gray. I'm not sure about the clutch location on these series...C, L, LA, R, but the S series has a hand clutch on the right side. The D series has the hand clutch on the left. The V and VA series have a foot clutch.

My '42 SC has a hand clutch on the right side and can be started either by starter or hand crank.

I received an email from Sharon. She has found the tractor.

Thank for the try Mike, but no.
I have think I finally have it nailed down. Now all I have to do is
find one:

My brother ( Bob) finally called back. He says my Dad's was an
International ( not Farmall), which I knew, but as I now know is the
same tractor, just different names. It was an -06. Only picture of an
06 on the site is one with FULL FENDERS (looks like something from a
space ship. LOL) Dad's didn't have that so he must have removed it
somewhere along the way.

Also found out that Grandpa's was a McCormick 04... found a picture on
the web site of a 1950 and IT IS THE TRACTOR... Although I don't think
grandpa's was that new, most likely same tractor, but earlier
production. I am so excited... Now all I have to do is find one.

I can not thank YOU AND ALL OF THE TRACTOR DUDE'S, ESPECIALLY BOB CURRIE
ENOUGH. YOU GUYS ARE THE ABSOLUTE GREATEST. !!!!
