Electromagnets?

Postby Dan England » Wed Mar 08, 2006 7:38 am

On several occasions, I have needed a large magnet to drag behind the Cub to locate and recover metal items lost from the tractor or implements. I have small bar magnets, perhaps one foot long, and these work well only if one can pinpoint where the item was lost. Using a 3-4 foot magnet would be much more efficient. I am wondering how one could make a magnet of this length and whether the cost would be prohibitive. All responses are welcome. Dan

go to http://www.northerntool.com and type in magnet in the search field. they have permanent magnets made up in 36 inch and 48 inch lengths for that purpose. another thing to consider is buying one of the cheap metal detectors. I bought one of them for that purpose.
