I think I read that there are something like 36 mower manufacturers building zero turn mowers this model year. thats a lot of competition.
I currently have 3, the first one I got and still have is the yazoo YR-60, one of the original zero turn mowers, and a pair of grasshoppers.
I really like the grasshoppers, they are both 2007 models bought used. they are fantastic mowers but at the current new price of about $14,000 out the door with tax I could never afford a new one. id much rather have a scag, grasshopper, xmark, used commercial mower than any of the ones new ones sold in big box stores.

I've found the Predator engines from Harbor Freight are a direct bolt in for B&S engines. Sometimes less expensive than a major overhaul on B&S engines.

The Predator engines seem to be pretty good engines.
I have an excuse. CRS.

The ones you mentioned have commercial as well as residential variants. The ones sold at Lowes, Home Depot, etc. are residential mowers, not commercial. Commercial mowers will have commercial grade engines, hydro motors, better decks and frames, etc. But you will pay a lot for a commercial mower, up to close to $30,000 depending on whether it's a diesel or gas engine.
